UVALL   'Obsidian Torment'
(CD)
Another killer new release on Antinomian Records: UVALL "Obsidian Torment" CD!

ABMU (American Black Metal Underground) full-length debut album from UVALL (previous split-cd with BARESARK was sold out a couple of years ago); cult Nordic-influenced darkness. Raw production (but not "primitive"), skillfully grim necro-ish attack, with strong sharp edges of old-school Heavy Metal brutality in the vein of similar Underground bands found on Northern Heritage (CLANDESTINE BLAZE), Bestial Burst (BLOODHAMMER/INCRIMINATED), Breath of Night (JUDAS ISCARIOT, KRIEG), Regimental Records (HELLKULT, NACHTMYSTIUM), Asgard Musik (NUCLEAR WINTER, STRIBORG), etc.
Highly reminiscent of DARKTHRONE's "Under A Funeral Moon" True Black Metal classic album!

Ten (10) songs; 53 minutes of distinctive orthodox Black Metal that stands apart from, and above the rest of the "bedroom" USBM scene! This new UVALL CD ("Pro" manufactured; not "cdr") on Antinomian Records is released in cooperation with god is Myth Records (whose previous releases include albums by Polish HELLVETO, Sweden's DAMNATION, SAPFHIER, etc.) in 2005. In the near-future, this "Obsidian Torment" CD by UVALL will surely prove to be essential for diehard Black Metal'ers, alongside our previous Antinomian releases such as CULT OF DAATH's "Under the Cover of the Triumphant Holocaust" CD, SIN ORIGIN/VELONNIC SIN split-CD, SIN ORIGIN's "Night Aeternal" CD, EVERWINTER "Final Victory" MCD, etc.!

"YOU GUYS FUCKING RULE! THANKS FOR THE UVALL CD, its fucking amazing!"-- Southern Lord's Greg Anderson (THORRS HAMMER, KHANATE, SUNN 0))))

* Excerpt from METAL MANIACS' column "APOKALYPTIC RAIDZ IX: YET ANOTHER BLACK/DEATH UNDERGROUND REPORT" by Nathan T. Birk:

"...More grimness: Germans Pest sound like an ornerier version of kinsmen Katharsis on latest Vado Mori [Ketzer]; not quite as oblivion-minded, but an equally all-screws-loose surge works well in their (whacked-out) favor. Just as grim and even more whacked-out is Japan's one-man E.D.M. Utilizing harshly industrialized git-tones and clattering programmed-percussion not unlike a warp-speed march, Endless Dismal Moan suggests the frightime necroticism that should've been the otherwise-gay new Anaal Nathrakh - adventure-inclined, by all means seek this out ASAP. Sorta-labelmates Lucifugum often play cat 'n' mouse with both "grim" and "whacked-out" faces, but the cranky Ukrainians' vinyl-only Sociopath: Philosophy Cynicism [both Blackmetal.com] reveals them in a wonderfully direct, full-throttled mode dripping with urban menace and a certain coiled accessibility, arguably their most cohesive statement yet. And how 'bout it, Uvall's Obsidian Torment [Antinomian: www.blackmetal.com] fits both the Grim and Whacked-Out bills, as aquatic interludes, pulsing plods, stomping tension, rocked-out trash, and icicle-chiseled speed-coma all get mashed together and then daubed with some necro. Overall, as ugly as bedroom BM gets this side of Blodulv, so I heartily endorse." -- .NTfuknB. (March 2005)
