Manticore was formed in 2000 by members Ixitichitl, The Maggot Wrangler and Satanael, to express their ideology and to play the kind of music they wanted to hear: unholy black death metal done without compromise. In January of 2001, the band recorded the "Ritual Cleansing of the Whore" demo tape, which was later re-released on CD and vinyl by Breath of Night/Merciless Records.
In January of 2002, Manticore returned to the studio to record their first album, entitled "Bowels of the Holy Anoint Us in Evil", and after endless delays due to cover art, finally saw the light of day on CD by Warhammer Records, vinyl LP by Headbangers Records and cassette by InCoffin Productions.
In between recordings, the band played numerous live shows before ultimately participating in the German tour "Marching Towards Christian Extermination" in the Fall of 2002 with Black Witchery, Krieg, Armagedda and Avenger. By 2005 a split 7" with Morbosidad was unleashed via Hells Headbangers followed by the much over-due second full length album entitled "For Rats & Plague" released by Hells Headbangers on limited edition Vinyl LP & Picture LP and Deathgasm Records on CD.
Since then, Satanael has left the band in 2007 and replaced by Duaniac, "Bowels of..." CD has been re-issued via Hells Headbangers and more live appearance have been made as preparations for Envenomation have begun...
